Kang Zhihong was born in Guangdong.He received his BA in French language and literature from Changsha Railway Institute in 1983,and his MA in linguistics and applied linguistics from the English Department of the Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages in 1991. From 1999 to 2000, Kang was a visiting scholar to Middlesex University in London. Apart form his 2-year experience as an interpreter/translator at the Guangzhou Peugeot Automobile Company (1986-88), Kanghasassumedvariousteaching responsibilities, first as a teaching assistant of French at Changsha Railway Institute (1983-85), and thenasa teaching assistant ofEnglsih andlecturer of English at Zhongshan University (1991-2002). Since 2002, he has been working atGuangdong University of Foreign Studies(GDUFS).
Kang Zhihong is currently Associate Professorand MA supervisorat the School of Interpreting and Translation Studies, GDUFS.He is also a member of the Translators Association of China (TAC).
Kang’s research interestsincludeterminology and problems of proper names in translation. He haspublishedmorethan10 articlesdealing with these issues. He also authored a textbook on technical translation for Chinese undergraduate translation majors (Scientific and Technical Translation,Beijing: Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, 2012).
